Life Happens

I have a confession to make...I have only worked out three times in the last 10 days, and it makes me nervous. I intentionally took a few days off from running after the last 5k but it wasn't meant to be THIS long. I got two strength training workouts in last week but that was it. Between moving furniture, and boxes, purging bedrooms and decorating for Christmas time has just gotten away from me. Luckily, since using Hello Fresh, my nutrition has been pretty on point and when i stepped on the scale yesterday the numbers did adjust down. I also ran yesterday for the first time in 10 days and I didn't die.

Since starting this journey 11 months ago, I can count one hand the amount of consecutive days I have taken off, but life happens, and these past 10 days have shown me that, and then some. Sometimes as my husband told me, you just have to give yourself some grace. My fear of course is too many off days will lead to bad habits. People will on occasion ask me how I maintain the motivation to keep going along this journey, I always answer the same "motivation not needed, just do it" and it has been true for me thus far. I have many a day that I am unmotivated but I force myself to show up and get my workout in cause for me it's about consistency, not motivation. I have been able to make working out a part of my everyday life schedule and that's what has made it possible for me to keep up with it. I use my lunch break and after work down time to lift, yoga, run or walk depending on the day. On the weekends I usually use one day as a rest day and the other as a day to get a good long workout in. I post all my workouts on my Instagram story not because I think you guys want to see them but because it keeps me accountable, and keeps me coming back.

This week isn't a loss yet. I did run yesterday, and have intentions of getting a walk in today. Hoping to restart a routine, even though life just keeps getting in the way (thanks, 2020), and get back into the swing of things so I don't go backwards and lose my way. I have to remember things happen and we're going to get off track, the important part however is setting yourself up to get back on the rails. The scale is going to fluctuate, especially as I move from purely cardio to more diverse workout regiment including building muscle. Heck, even if/when I get to my goal weight, it's still going to move because ...life. All of this okay, I am in control. So if you don't see me on Instagram posting workouts several days in a row, call me out, ask me if everything is good because I sometimes need that reminder. Have you ever fallen off the workout wagon?
